American Airlines diverts to New York due to contaminated food

A Delta Air Lines international flight carrying 277 passengers from Detroit to Amsterdam made an emergency U-turn and landed in New York in the early morning of the 3rd. However, the reason for the forced landing was not a mechanical failure related to flight safety, but the “contaminated” food. Delta Airlines said in a statement that the crew found that some of the food on the plane had spoiled in the early morning of the 3rd. After consulting medical experts, the flight decided to change its route and land at New York’s Kennedy Airport at around 4 am on the 3rd. Delta Airlines explained that after the plane landed in New York, medical personnel met and treated all affected passengers and crew members on the ground. Delta Airlines will immediately collect relevant information and apologize to passengers whose itineraries were affected and inconvenienced. There were 277 passengers on board, and 24 people were unwell when landing, including 10 crew members and 14 passengers, but all 24 refused medical treatment. Passengers on Flight 136 were provided with accommodation and transportation services, and the airline will arrange rebooking to their destination.
