Fatal accident reported at US airport: Delta plane tire exploded, causing 2 deaths and 1 injury

A fatal accident occurred earlier at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States. In a local maintenance facility affiliated with Delta Air Lines, several maintenance personnel were performing maintenance on a passenger plane. Unexpectedly, a loud noise was heard, suspected to be caused by a tire explosion at the scene. The accident caused the death of two Delta Air Lines employees and one serious injury. According to the Atlanta Airport report, the accident did not affect the takeoff and landing of flights. According to foreign media reports such as ABC, the time of the accident was about 5 a.m. local time. Employees were repairing a Delta Air Lines tire and brake repair shop at the airport. The local hospital confirmed in a statement that the two victims of the accident were 58-year-old Mavig and 37-year-old Adarondo, and the injured employees did not disclose their names. The airline also immediately launched an internal investigation to confirm whether it was caused by human negligence or external forces such as parts or objects. Delta Air Lines later said in a statement, “Delta is heartbroken about the accident that occurred at its Atlanta technical maintenance facility this morning, which resulted in the deaths of two team members and the injury of one. We are working with local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident.” Delta Air Lines mentioned that the accident involved tire parts that were being disassembled, which were not installed on the aircraft at the time, and the cause of the accident has not yet been determined. According to the flight electronic records, the Delta aircraft under maintenance had just completed a domestic flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta on the 25th. After arriving in Atlanta, it immediately entered the factory for maintenance. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also stated that they have noticed the incident and will communicate and investigate with Delta Air Lines.
