Another convenience store was robbed, 50 teenagers looted a 7-11 in Los Angeles

On Friday night, a group of about 50 teenagers on bicycles robbed a 7-11 convenience store in Pico Robertson, leaving the store in a mess and shocking residents; a few hours later, another nearby convenience store was robbed at gunpoint. According to the Los Angeles Times, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said that the group of teenagers, estimated to be between 12 and 15 years old, broke into the convenience store at 8500 West Olympic Boulevard at 7:25 p.m. on Friday and stole many items. When the police arrived, most of them had already fled the scene. It is not clear how many items were stolen or damaged. But just a few hours later, a 7-11 convenience store in another block of Los Angeles was also robbed at gunpoint. The Los Angeles Police Department said that at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, the public called the police to report a robbery at the convenience store on Oxnard Street in Glen Valley. The suspect robbed an unknown amount of money at gunpoint and fled on foot before the police arrived. Fox 11 TV News reported that on August 9, Pico Robertson convenience store was attacked by a group of about 50 teenagers on bicycles. A week later, a group of young people on bicycles robbed two convenience stores in the Hollywood area, reportedly 7-11 stores; on August 24, a similar robbery occurred at a 7-11 convenience store in San Pedro. The robbery in San Pedro prompted Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Osker to call on the Los Angeles Police Department to increase its staffing to prevent similar robberies from happening again. Mike Osker said at a press conference: “This is not just about property damage or stolen items, but also about a victim and an employee who is worried about their own safety. This is a community full of fear and there are no convenience stores on the corner. Such incidents have become more and more serious, which makes me deeply disturbed.”
