Ballot boxes burned in many parts of the United States

A ballot box in southwest Washington, USA, was set on fire, burning hundreds of ballots in the county. Auditor General Greg Kinsey said officials were processing damaged ballots and contacting voters to send them replacement ballots. Washington state automatically sends mail-in ballots to every registered voter, and ballots can be returned by mail or through official drop boxes. U.S. Secretary of State Blinken condemned such incidents as terrorist acts and said law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, were on the scene. He also said that the safety of election workers is taken seriously and that threats or violence that attempt to undermine the democratic process will not be tolerated. Portland, Oregon, also reported a ballot box fire. NBC News reported that a mailbox in Phoenix, Arizona, was also damaged by fire.
