Trump: From today, TikTok is back

On January 19, US President-elect Trump praised TikTok’s resumption of online operations in the United States at a rally held in Washington on the eve of his inauguration. “From today, TikTok is back.” Trump said, “We won on TikTok, and the Republican Party has never won the votes of young people, the votes of young people,” he added, “So I like TikTok.” Trump said, “I said we need to save TikTok. Who will use TikTok? A lot of people? Yes, it is very popular. Frankly speaking, we have no choice, we have to save it.” At about 9:30 a.m. on the 19th, US time, TikTok issued a statement on social media saying that the company has reached an agreement with Internet service providers and is restoring related services. At present, the TikTok application has resumed normal use, and the TikTok website has also returned to normal. TikTok thanked Trump in the statement for making the necessary clarifications and assurances to TikTok’s Internet service providers so that it will not be punished for assisting in maintaining the normal operation of TikTok. TikTok also stated that it will work with Trump to find a long-term solution to keep the TikTok application available in the United States. Trump posted on social media earlier on the 19th, calling on companies not to keep TikTok in a state of suspension.
