Trump considers plan to ‘clean up’ Gaza, move Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan

US President Donald Trump is considering a plan to “clean up” Gaza from ruins by relocating Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan. Trump has proposed relocating residents of the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan as part of a peace plan to “clean up” Gaza. The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas entered its second week on Sunday. Donald Trump likened the territory to a “demolition site” late Saturday and said he had spoken to Jordanian King Abdullah II about the situation, after an unprecedented Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered a 15-month war. Trump added that he would have the same conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday. The ceasefire, which came into effect on January 19 and remains in effect, saw the two sides conduct a second hostage swap on Saturday: Hamas released four Israeli hostages in exchange for about 200 Palestinian prisoners.
