Storms hit many states in the Midwest of the United States, more than 100,000 residents lost power

Tornadoes hit northern and central Illinois, killing at least seven people and damaging dozens of homes. Two local power companies reported that 15,000 customers lost power due to the storm. It is reported that the storm and tornadoes sweeping across the central United States turned northeast, and New York, New Jersey and Connecticut were hit by heavy rains, with more than 100,000 customers losing power. A total of 4,800 households lost power in New York City, of which 3,700 were in Staten Island. The 109th Precinct of the New York City Police Department reported that a church in Flushing was struck by lightning and caught fire. Nearby New Jersey and Connecticut had 83,000 and 47,000 power outages respectively due to heavy rains. After the storm and tornado destroyed many homes in the Midwest, they quickly moved northeast, and the severe weather turned to threaten the Northeast and the Ohio River Basin. Tens of millions of people are facing the threat of winds up to 70 miles per hour and hail up to 2 inches in diameter. Meteorological experts said that destructive winds and tornadoes may appear in a wide area from New England to the Ohio River Basin.
